Dr John Bailey is the Chairman of The Carlton Consulting Group Pty. Ltd, consultants in the development of strategic competence within large corporations and government organisations.

John has extensive experience in working with senior executive teams and with chief executive officers in the facilitation of processes for developing innovative corporate strategies and for transforming organisations. Clients in recent years have included large Australian and international organisations in mining, manufacturing, banking, insurance, telecommunications, transport and government.

He is on the panel of facilitators for the Leadership Development Program of the Leadership Consortium Inc. He is an Associate Professor and faculty member of the Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne, is an adjunct professor in management at RMIT University, is an adjunct professor in the Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Swinburne University of Technology and conducts senior executive programs with the Graduate School of Management at Macquarie University.

John has an international reputation for his work in economic development programs in Australia, USA, Asia and Europe. He has particular interests in the creation of entrepreneurial cultures and enterprising communities. He has co-authored 15 books on a variety of topics including Strategic Alliances (Pearson 1995). His most recent co-authored text due for publication in 1999 is The Corporate Transformation Map.

Current research interests (and publishing projects) centre around the impact of ‘strategic relationship management’ on the bottom lines of those large corporations faced with complexity, ambiguity and uncertainty.

He is a member of the Sweden-based Foresight Network; is a co-founder of Emergent Leadership International; is a member of KJ Coaching and Mentoring; is a director or Nexus Business Coaching Pty. Ltd.; FastTrack Victoria Pty. Ltd.; Crocodiles Not Waterlillies Pty. Ltd.; International Council for Small Business Inc.; is founding President of the Australasian Institute for Enterprise Facilitators.

John has professional qualifications in engineering, commerce and education and MBA and PhD degrees in management from University of Melbourne. Professional memberships include Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia, Member Australian Institute of Management, Member Australiana Institute of Training and Development, Member of Australian Institute of Enterprise Facilitators.

Previous appointments have included production engineering with Containers Ltd. National Training and Development Manager for Telecom Australia, Dean of the Business School at Preston Institute of Technology, Founding Executive Director of the Centre for the Development of Entrepreneurs, Chisholm Institute of Technology, and Clark Hummerston Bailey Consultants. John is an experienced, facilitator, management educator and consultant.
